For atheists and Christians that need the ideas and concepts of God and the Devil explained to them.
They’re symbolic. God represents the infinite Universe and Satan is not an actual boogeyman, he represents the human ego; the source of much suffering, greed, selfishness, etc. It’s not complicated and the truth is not fantastical despite the creative writing of the authors of ancient texts.
For the passive aggressive atheists that publish eye roll inducing memes stating “Why doesn’t God just kill the Devil?!” Once you understand what these two narrative ‘characters’ are intended to symbolize, it becomes easier to process and digest these stories. In short, we have to dissolve our egos ourselves to experience a transcendent reunion with the universe and all humanity.
The human ego is the source of all human pain, suffering and the illusion of division and separation from each other when we are all in fact literally one. Thus the ego gets personified in old texts as a demonic monster, despite in reality being an element of the human psyche. Similarly, the infinite universe gets personified as God in these older texts.
The entire field of spirituality, when followed successfully, is intended to dissolve the human ego and the sense of separation between all humans in order to not only reestablish our connection with other humans but also the universe as well; what the ancients were essentially referring to as God. That’s the goal of spirituality in a nutshell; reestablishing and remembering our native and natural oneness with all things before our egos took the reins of our lives and robbed us of our inner bliss.
So will science ever catch up to the practice of spirituality and validate any of the claims and goals of spirituality as a practice? Yes, we see the field of quantum mechanics validating the claims made by your favorite spiritualist more and more everyday. Specifically the ones who properly followed and executed the directions to reestablish their unity with all things by ascending to a higher state of human consciousness.
It’s safe to say that at some point in the future, all the historical religious stories and narratives that have circulated for over 5000 years will no longer be necessary since anyone will just be able to just easily reference a very clear set of directions to achieve this awakening. That means your favorite atheist can achieve this very attainable awakening since no faith is required. No faith is necessary when we know these things are in fact real. We don’t need to refer to very real things by their symbolic names and counterparts in biblical texts. No need to call the human ego the devil anymore, no need to call the universe God anymore, no need to refer the ascension of the human consciousness beyond the ego as “heaven” or enlightenment” anymore, and there’s no need to call the quantum field of the universe “the holy ghost” anymore as it is a very real demonstrably observable field permeating throughout the universe binding all life together and that anyone can easily tap into. The more the quantum sciences investigates it, the more it will confirm what many spiritualists have known for a very long time.
One of the most important declarations besides reaffirming in your consciousness that we are all collectively one and refusing to judge others, is the necessary step of voluntarily relinquishing your ego’s insistence on having total control of your life, in exchange for the guidance of the will of the greater universe. It must be done sincerely. For skeptics that posit that there’s no way that this is possible, that’s your human ego speaking and operating completely out of free will, and it’s important to quiet it in order to be guided on the best possible path in life. This requires letting go of all fear and in order to put all trust in a higher cosmic entity for guidance but the benefits outweigh the costs, namely the ecstasy and euphoria of experiencing total unity with the universe. (hence Jesus advising his followers to let go of all fear and declaring let thy will be done in the Lord’s Prayer)
All these powerful seemingly supernatural concepts are in fact natural and just part of the mechanics of the universe. The fact that they appear supernatural on the surface is precisely why ancient texts and stories described them as devil monsters, gods and holy ghosts. There’s no need to use those terms anymore in 2025. There’s no need to use a term like enlightenment or heaven anymore to describe the reunion and reconnection with the universe and humanity in a higher state of consciousness. I think we can come up with better terms that don’t have the baggage of old religious terminology, but at the end of the day it’s up to the person to choose the words that they want when they make these affirmations in their consciousness. I personally prefer the word universe or source in place of God because I’m biased towards literal language.
It’s important to note that while figures like Jesus and Buddha guided people towards enlightenment they did not ask to be worshipped. They did however teach people to reiterate in their minds constantly that we are all one, to accept our unity and oneness, to not judge others as it creates separation between us that we are trying to eliminate, and to put the shoe on the other foot as much as you can because empathy reinforces our oneness with all humans. The Golden Rule when applied constantly also improves our empathy and unity. The amount of overlap in the teachings of these two faiths are not accidental and no religion has ownership of these universal guidelines to remembering our unity and oneness with all.
These instructions are rarely emphasized in mainstream Christianity especially due to their focus being on worshiping Jesus instead of following his guidelines to experience the promised awakening to our unity and oneness which is what undoubtedly caused him to gain such an enormous following during his life. So it’s an easy argument to make that a large portion of Christians are walking around not having experienced this awakening Jesus taught since many ministers and preachers are misdirecting them by giving directions Jesus never explicitly gave and not emphasizing the instructions he did explicitly give. This should reasonably upset many Christians.
It’s not uncommon or surprising to see many objectively hateful and bigoted proud Christians in America meanwhile this is almost never the case in faiths as in Buddhism where many of the same virtues and teachings are taught. There is no way hateful and sadistic actions would be possible in anyone who was actually applying and following the teachings of Jesus, yet many of the most hateful persons have crosses around their neck.
As stated on prior articles on this website, Jesus never said you access what he called “the kingdom of god within” (heaven) by just declaring that you believe in him, by worshipping him or to publicly declare that he died for their sins but this has become the norm in so many Christian churches that it would be seen as heresy to deviate from the aforementioned directions he never even gave.
I would argue that this shift away from his teachings was part of a deliberate and wide concerted effort to derail his teachings away from successfully helping people achieve and experience the benefits of a transcendent egoless existence. The corruption of his teachings is arguably the human ego’s last ditch survival effort that went full swing upon his death to destroy his message and it continues to this day.
As stated in a prior article, the continuous destruction in the 2000 years since his death was arguably worse than any crucifixion as it prevented anyone from actually experiencing and enjoying the benefits of his teachings in the years following his death. The message and teachings he died delivering.
That being said, good luck telling most Christians that he didn’t ask to be worshiped rather he gave a succinct list of lifestyle changes to adopt to attune yourself back in harmony with the natural state of the universe rather than operating in our lower egoic consciousness.
For people who claim that Jesus was implicitly instructing people to worship him because he stated he was one with God. Oneness with God (the universe) was something he was teaching all his followers to also experience and achieve. The fact is that we are all collectively one with God, the Universe. Jesus constantly utilized metaphorical language to teach lessons to his followers, so he communicated this in several ways. One by telling all humans that they are all children of our father also by saying that we are all siblings, emphasizing that while we are one as humanity and that we are also one with the greater universe. This is the oneness with God Jesus was describing.
Anyone who successfully awakens to their unity and oneness with the universe will instantly realize they are “One with the God”, and they will perfectly understand what Jesus meant when he said he was “One with God” and realize this was not an exclusive quality he was keeping to himself. His goal was to share the path to achieve this to as many people as possible.
While figurative language is nice, literal language may be preferable in that we are all descendants, products and one with the universe while also being unilaterally one as humanity that is also one with the universe. Being one with God was not an exclusive attribute for Jesus as he was helping all his followers to remember and realize this.
Declaring oneness with God is not an instruction to be worshiped, it is a declaration of having finally ascended to a higher stage of consciousness, realizing and remembering our oneness with all things.
