Always take the path of peace not conflict or beefs. Make resolutions and reconciliations a priority.
What did Jesus say about holding onto anger?
It depends on the approach I would argue, if you are speaking to them independently/separately and telling your friend:
“hey are you still upset with him/her about this? It’s not healthy to hold grudges.. why not make peace and forgive, it’s been several years and I think they’ve changed. Maybe send them a message saying ‘hey I know it’s been many years but I hope you’re doing well and would love to catch up. We had such a tight and wonderful relationship before what happened and I miss all our good times together. I just wanted to let you know I don’t hold onto any grudges and have left the past in the past. Sending you and your family many blessings’”
Putting aside ego and having the humility to make a gesture of peace goes a long way. The ball remains in their court but at least the seed would be planted that they’re holding onto old grievances for far too long and that the only reason there’s no peace at that point is because only one person in that conflict is clinging onto grudges. Especially when it’s between family members and especially since time heals all wounds
Grudges
Say this prayer in your mind “I forgive all my brothers and sisters who have slighted me, disrespected me, or offended me as we are all one. Grudges or resentments I’ve held onto, I let them go of as I forgive them and accept the spirit of the universe into my body (aka the holy spirit). Be sure to name these people outright in your mind as you forgive them in your prayer, don’t just make a general “I forgive everyone” in your prayers. It’s 100x better if you even reach out to them to let them know you’ve forgiven them and made peace with them. Do it your own way that feels natural to you and your relationship to them. This will always be welcomed and be appreciated.
