We have to call out people and condemn them for being hateful, that’s not healthy.
How were we going to end Jim Crow laws and racial segregation laws if nobody spoke up to condemn it?
Jesus said to stop hatred towards others in Matthew 5:21. If we are going to teach people what Jesus taught then we have to tell people to stop their hatred and anger.
Jesus explicitly preaches against hatred in Matthew 5:21
“But I tell you, if you are angry with a brother or sister, you will be judged. If you say bad things to a brother or sister, you will be judged by the council”
If we are going to emulate Christ we need to discourage people to engage in hateful language, which is what he did
Anger is incompatible with Christianity, Pick one, not both
Jesus did not teach or advocate for anger. He literally taught us to hold it back. What makes the story of flipping tables notable and important is that it demonstrates Jesus’s humanity, showing that he was susceptible to the same weaknesses we all experience as humans, including anger and negative emotions. The point is not to justify or excuse those outbursts of anger towards others.
Angry outbursts are not in line and acceptable within Christian faith/teachings.
Jesus flipping tables at the temple is not justification for anger however this was not proof that anger was fine it was evidence that Jesus was also human capable and vulnerable to the same weaknesses that we all had yet he still remained the most enlightened being on the planet. This should give us all pause and encourage us and inspire us that we can still reach a path to our higher spiritual selves despite our egotistical weaknesses.
