Critical Warning: Avoid mainstream Christianity at all costs which has been contaminated and corrupted for 2000 years. Follow the guidance detailed on this blog which strips out all the extraneous additions to what Jesus taught.
First off, a primer. Heaven is simply a word describing the achievement of a shifting to higher consciousness, successfully achieving a state of complete oneness with the universe naturally available within all of us. No religion or bible required. Heaven is not describing a place, a common misconception in Christianity. There are comparable terms you have undoubtedly heard that describe this state of enlightenment such as Nirvana, Bodhi, Tao, Satori, Non Dualistic awareness, and others. It is the dissolution of your ego that helps you remember your oneness with all.
If you’re going to jump straight into this research having already decided you will never be convinced despite the overwhelming evidence that empirically proves a massive change in your mind and body then quit while you’re ahead. There are several citations of peer reviewed studies and what they have captured upon the ego of a human being dissolving, see them directly below highlighted in red text.
A brief neurological snapshot:
- Suppression of the Default Mode Network (DMN) triggering decreased activity in the Medial prefrontal cortex and the Posterior cingulate cortex
- Increased global connectivity (When the ego network quiets down, the brain becomes less modular and more unified)
- Reduced parietal lobe boundary mapping (Decreased activity in orientation and spatial-self regions, Blurred body–world boundary representation)
- Altered thalamic gating (reduced filtering & increased sensory data flow)
- EEG: high coherence + gamma synchronization (Reduced noise / increased signal coherence upon “Non-dual awareness”)
They show:
✔ Highly ordered states
✔ Reduced ego processing
✔ Increased integration
✔ Efficient information flow
Reported experiences:
- “Everything felt connected”
- “No boundaries”
- “I was part of everything”
- “I couldn’t tell where my body ended”
- “There was no inside or outside”
When people report “I” dissolved / I merged with everything, scanners consistently show:
- Reduced functional integrity of the default mode network (often framed as the “neural correlate of the narrative self”).
- Increased global integration / communication between normally separated networks.
- In EEG/MEG: higher signal diversity / entropy, sometimes with altered oscillatory patterns.

The experience of realizing our oneness with the universe is also demonstrably true. There is no requirement to read the studies to validate this. Everyone can reproduce this themselves and experience the evidence firsthand. It’s an innate/natural internal switch we all have to to experience complete dissolution of ego leading to a profound upgrade in our consciousness which results in total euphoria/peace, the literal end of all suffering as a human. If you want scientific evidence supporting it, there is plenty of it. There are solid, peer-reviewed studies that studied the impacts of ego dissolution / altered self-experience via EEG/MEG and MRI/fMRI. There is a total transformation of body and consciousness when successfully achieving this, and the results are both visible and achievable. If you cannot be persuaded by peer reviewed studies and scientific evidence, then it may be that personal biases and prejudices are preventing you from accepting due to the unfortunate toxicity of religion as a whole. No declaration of any religion is necessary to achieve this. It’s important to go into this without holding onto any biases that includes the failures of contemporary Christianity that has done a remarkably poor job at leading believers on the correct path to achieving this, which have undoubtedly also spawned many atheists who walked away disappointed from the lack of results.
What has been observed and corroborated by countless people who have experienced ego dissolution cannot be casually dismissed, especially given the growing body of medical research showing measurable biological and neurological changes following these experiences. When studied in controlled medical environments, ego dissolution is associated with demonstrable shifts in brain activity, physiology, and consciousness itself. These changes are observable, quantifiable, and reproducible within laboratory settings. A refusal to examine this evidence firsthand is not proof of its invalidity; it merely reflects an unwillingness to engage with the data, which runs counter to the very principles of the scientific method.
There are many human experiences that cannot be directly observed or measured from a third-person, external point of view, yet we still accept their reality based on first-hand testimony from those who experience them. Encounters with what is described as a higher level of being or consciousness fall into this category. These experiences are consistently reported by individuals who have undergone ego dissolution, whether through long-term spiritual practice or, in some cases, through psychedelics. The former path is preferable, as it avoids the potential medical and psychological risks associated with the latter.
What is striking is that these accounts are remarkably consistent across traditions. Similar descriptions emerge from Buddhism, Hinduism, and the foundational teachings of Jesus, setting aside the many institutional and doctrinal additions layered on over the past two thousand years. An honest examination of ego-dissolution experiences across different spiritual paths reveals how closely aligned the practical instructions for achieving this state are across these traditions. You’ll find these overlaps at the end of this article.
What ultimately matters is not the religious label one adopts, but whether the instructions are genuinely followed. The “club” you choose is irrelevant. Follow the path that life, or the universe, naturally guides you toward, and avoid tribalism at all costs.
The reason these solid and verified instructions that correspond across multiple practices like Buddhism, Hinduism and Taoism is because they overlap in terms of the core instructions in achieving this. Hence my saying that it does not need to be original. The core instructions do not change because the realization is the same regardless of the paths I mentioned. The reason Christians predominantly do not achieve this is because the practice has been so corrupted and contaminated since Jesus was killed, so this is likely the reason you’re in doubt. It is also the reason I’ve been adamant about correcting the disinformation within the faith/practice as much as possible here.
As stated in prior articles in this site, many Christians think the end of their spiritual journey is just saying that Jesus is their lord and savior, and they’re not even aware that a total transcendence of their egos is the ultimate end goal aka “Heaven”. Attainable here and now.
If you don’t want to go that route for ego dissolution, you can via hard psychedelics but that has its risks, and is not as preferable as a literal innate ability we have built into each and every one of us. This is why Jesus said “God is within” which is basically the total ecstasy and euphoria of ego dissolution is available within all of us. That euphoric state of ego dissolution is what was originally referred to as Heaven, but despite many years of disinformation and ignorance, it is not some literal kingdom in the skies we go to after we die, it’s a shorthand term for a bliss and peace you can experience right now. Heaven (the stars/universe above) is an appropriate term due to experiencing total oneness with the universe, right here, right now as a human. So why pass on something that is demonstrably true? Do not go the mainstream christian route unless you stick to the foundational elements of what he taught which also correspond with Buddhist/Taoist methods. Avoid mainstream Christian churches, they’ll tag actual instructions of spiritual awakening as mysticism which just goes to show how corrupt it’s come and how to suppress awakening from our egos.
As I said you could easily research the scientific impacts of dissolution of the human ego but I can get you started. Be advised that experiencing this is what is also called a non-dualistic state aka total oneness with the universe. A transcendent state of consciousness in which all separation between you and all other things is eliminated.

For those demanding visible or tangible evidence of God, you’re asking for proof of something that can only be verified through direct, firsthand experience. That said, this isn’t inaccessible, you can see for yourself. But anyone who refuses to validate it firsthand, despite the clear and practical instructions available across multiple spiritual traditions, will never be persuaded. This isn’t like changing a shirt, where the result is immediately visible to others. Despite Renaissance artwork, God is not a bearded figure in the clouds observing us from a distance. God is intangible, experienced within us and as the force that connects us all. It often seems that only a literal, physical appearance matching those artistic depictions would satisfy atheists or agnostics. Yet the first real step for anyone still in doubt is setting aside pride and ego and becoming open to this very real, internal experience.
For those claiming that their declared faith is the ultimate and sole path, please keep in mind that the same teachings of Jesus are found across multiple faiths and the instructions are the only thing that matters, not the label you put on yourself or the cross you put around your neck. For those in doubt, please see the comparisons below for any Christians that think these teachings are exclusive to Christianity. The major overlaps between Jesus, Buddhism, Taoism and Hinduism are more than a handful. To be frank, I have not researched enough on Islam to comment on it, however the ones below I have studied are basically cousins.
Jesus was not a gatekeeper. He taught others how to access the same oneness with the universe that he himself had achieved, and there is little reason to believe he would have taken issue with Buddhists, Taoists, or similar spiritual traditions. What matters is following the teachings that cultivate unity, compassion, and oneness among humanity.
The insistence on separation and exclusion found in some forms of Christianity runs directly counter to Jesus’ own message—something that bears repeating. When you look closely at these spiritual paths, the overlap becomes obvious. The primary differences tend to lie in their lore, symbolism, and mythology, while the core instructions for inner transformation remain remarkably consistent. That consistency is not accidental. Below you’ll see more than a few of their overlaps in teachings. The statement that Jesus is the only way is an implicit admission that they haven’t examined or reviewed the teachings of other practices which are virtually identical..
Side by Side Comparisons Between Major Spiritual Paths Below.
This is despite constant gate keeping by Christians that like to pretend these teachings belong to them. Remind yourself that we are all one, not enemies/opponents:
1. Ego Dissolution / Death of the False Self
This is the central and most important overlap between the primary faiths explored here. Human suffering arises from ego-identification; liberation comes from transcending it.
- Jesus: “Whoever loses his life shall find it” / “Deny yourself”
- Buddhism: Anatta (non-self), ego as illusion
- Taoism: Letting go of the constructed self; return to simplicity
- Hinduism: Ahamkara (ego) obscures true Self (Atman)
2. Inner Kingdom / Enlightenment Is Within
Truth and transcendence is not external. The “kingdom” is not a literal one but symbolizes the state of total ego transcendence. Salvation/liberation is an internal realization, not belief or obedience. It is not exclusively achieved through any religion despite what Christianity states. It is also not achieved after death, rather during the course of your life if you pursue, the red carpet is laid out for you.
- Jesus: “The Kingdom of God is within you”
- Buddhism: Enlightenment is realized inwardly
- Taoism: The Tao is accessed through inner harmony
- Hinduism: Atman (inner Self) = Brahman (ultimate reality)
3. Non-Attachment
Freedom requires letting go. Clinging—to identity, possessions, outcomes—binds consciousness.
- Jesus: “Do not store up treasures” / “Let the dead bury the dead”
- Buddhism: Attachment is the root of suffering
- Taoism: Wu wei (non-grasping, non-forcing)
- Hinduism: Detachment (vairagya) is essential for moksha
4. Compassion as a Natural Outcome of Awakening
Ethics flow from realization, not rules. When ego dissolves, compassion is spontaneous.
- Jesus: Love your neighbor; love your enemy
- Buddhism: Compassion (karuna) arises from wisdom
- Taoism: Natural kindness through harmony
- Hinduism: Ahimsa (non-harm) grounded in oneness
5. Illusion vs Reality
The world as we perceive it is not ultimate truth. Awakening is seeing through illusions we have grown accustomed throughout our life.
- Jesus: “Those with eyes to see”
- Buddhism: Maya-like impermanence and emptiness
- Taoism: Names and forms obscure the Tao
- Hinduism: Maya veils Brahman
6. Silence, Stillness, and Presence
Truth is encountered beyond thought. Direct experience > intellectual belief.
- Jesus: Withdrawal into silence; parables over doctrine.
- Buddhism: Meditation and mindfulness
- Taoism: Stillness reveals the Tao
- Hinduism: Meditation (dhyana), samadhi
How ego uses intellect. Ego appropriates intellect to reinforce identity:
Selective reasoning
Motivated skepticism
Over-intellectualization
Needing to be “right”
Dismissing experiences that threaten self-concept
In that sense, ego doesn’t create intellect, it hijacks it.
This is why highly intelligent people can be deeply ego-identified or deeply humble and open
7. Teacher as Guide, Not Object of Worship
Originally, the teacher points beyond themselves. Later traditions often idolize the teacher, contrary to their message.
- Jesus: “Why do you call me good?”
- Buddha: “Be a light unto yourselves”
- Laozi: The Tao cannot be embodied or owned
- Hindu sages: Guru points to Self, not ego devotion
Jesus has unfortunately shifted from being a teacher to being an object of worship within Christianity, to the point where participation in the religion often requires first declaring him as one’s Lord and Savior. This emphasis can contradict Jesus’ own teachings, which focused far more on inner transformation and how one treats others, teachings that are frequently ignored or sidelined today. For many, the spiritual journey ends with the declaration loyalty to Jesus himself, rather than continuing through the difficult work of actually living out his message. That helps explain why many Christians are able to hold onto hatred or racism while still believing they are faithful to his message and teachings, instead of practicing the love of neighbor that Jesus consistently taught. Put simply, wearing a cross around your neck or placing one on your car’s bumper means very little, and is performative for many who trample on all his teachings.
8. Unity / Oneness
Separation is the illusion. Enlightenment = realizing our literal unity upon dissolution of ego. unity beneath multiplicity.
- Jesus: “I and the Father are one”
- Buddhism: Interbeing, emptiness
- Taoism: All things arise from the Tao
- Hinduism: Non-duality (Advaita)
First and foremost, when Jesus said “I and the father are one” It was not Jesus saying saying he was God himself which is what mainstream Christianity has misinterpreted repeatedly for many years and is used as a rational and reason to worship him despite his instructions not to do so. For those who ask “What authority do you have to decide how his statements should be interpreted. The statement in the way I am explaining here is consistent with all other verses detailing his life story in which he repeatedly makes the distinction between himself in what he refers to God our father, in other words our source. The reality is he was teaching all his peers and followers to help realize that same oneness with the Father that he had achieved, as this was not an exclusive to him. The fact that this has not been realized by contemporary Christianity is additional proof that his message has fallen on the deaf ears of Christians and that they have not done anything beyond proclaiming Jesus is their savior.
The realization of oneness is not just in the context of our source we are all reflections of, but also realizing our oneness with all of humanity. A difficult realization for many but one that needs to be embraced often, as it is quite literally true. What is especially important is the difficult and necessary step of letting go of religious labels that exist mainly to separate us from one another. The divisions humanity has created across religions, nations, and racial lines have been a major obstacle to recognizing our shared humanity and restoring a sense of unity and oneness…….
9. Transformation Over Time, Not Instant Belief
Practice matters. Awakening is cultivated over time, not simply declared.
- Jesus: “Follow me” (process)
- Buddhism: Eightfold Path
- Taoism: Lifelong alignment
- Hinduism: Yoga (discipline, not exercise)
Despite what contemporary Christianity would like you to believe. That literally checking a box on a paper or declaring that you are now on Team Jesus. Following specific instructions that guide your life in many ways is key towards the end goal of transcending ego.
The experiential core between all these spiritual paths are incredibly consistent. The desire to say my tribe and my path is the best one is purely the results of ego and tribalism and should be abandoned immediately. It is derailing you from the end goal of the path towards awakening/enlightenment.
Bottom Line
At their deepest level, Jesus, the Buddha, Laozi, and Hindu sages are all pointing to the same thing:
The end of ego, the realization of inner truth, and liberation from suffering through awakened consciousness.
What differs is symbolism, not destination.
