There have been more than a few devastating blows to the proliferation of the message Jesus spent during his life teaching, and more that followed in the 2000 years since, with more to come. Besides the most obvious answer being his death and crucifixion, you could also easily argue that his tragic life story was a huge factor in how much and quickly his message and teachings spread. So if the Roman empire’s intention was to destroy his message and teachings, killing him backfired miserably. That being said, there has been other ways his message and teachings have been more effectively derailed or destroyed than his death:

  • The commercialization of the birth of Jesus which has almost nothing to do with him outside of his actual name. A person who was killed for teaching people how to let go of attachments to materials, especially things like money, should automatically disqualify this as a method to celebrate Christmas.
  • An honest celebration that is faithful to his teachings, would be gifts of food and other necessities to the poor and the homeless who are suffering everyday. This would be replicating his lifestyle and practicing his teachings of giving and selflessness in his name. Giving your brother the newest Xbox system does nothing to honor Jesus and is unfaithful to his spirit. In fact, it poisons his teachings and message completely and makes Christians materialistic as a byproduct of this poisonous shift in its meaning.
  • So this commercialization has acted as a malicious red herring, one that has distracted people from practicing his core teachings, preventing them from triggering a transcendent spiritual awakening via very easy instructions. Namely voluntarily helping out the least amongst us who are suffering and forgiving others who have hurt you.
  • Imagine receiving a call from someone you were on the outs with a formal apology and attempt to settle a long standing dispute and disagreement. That is a much more valuable gift than any piece of jewelry, especially as you are both beneficiaries of that gift. It is much more valuable given how forgiveness helps facilitate that spiritual awakening.

Other very notable ways the teachings of Jesus have been derailed and destroyed:

  • The instructions believed by modern Christians and circulated by modern Christian ministries that direct all Christians to worship Jesus which directly opposes his instructions to direct all worship and praise to our higher father. Rarely are directions given to affirm in our minds and consciousness that we are all collectively one, children of our greater source. I have been to numerous churches in my lifetime and never have I seen churches reiterate this in the minds of congregants. Sabotage of Jesus message in full effect.
  • The promotion and shift to a total transition to digital currency is an in process attempt designed to prevent people from fulfilling one of the most essential teachings of Jesus. One in the form of helping the homeless and desperate. Any Christian growing up likely heard rumors about how an Anti-Christ would bring about the end of cash currency, and this is specifically why. When the homeless person has an empty cup on display begging for cash, it’s not out of preference. That person does not have the luxuries or opportunities to have what is now becoming an expected method to transfer money. $600 cell phones and digital wallets with banks when they likely do not even have enough money to have a bank account. How can you fulfill Jesus’ instructions to directly help the poor if they can’t even take the cash? Giving them food is a wonderful replacement but cash is a necessary requirement for them to navigate cities and society overall. It’s a requirement for many in society still.
  • Another modern devastating blow is how people in mainstream Churches teach that experiencing and enjoying the spiritual enlightenment that Jesus taught, can be easily attained by simply declaring that you “believe in Jesus”, or that he “died for your sins”. However, he never taught this and ministers/priests/pastors spend no time walking people down the path that ensures they are doing all the things Jesus taught in order to experience a transcendent spiritual experience he labeled ‘heaven’, namely becoming a selfless, giving, forgiving, loving and unretaliatory person.
  • The final persistent devastating blow to the teachings of Jesus is the disingenuous claim that Heaven is experienced after one dies, when in fact it’s triggered and enjoyed when one is alive. So please avoid any churches that allude to this being some posthumous reward for a life well lived. It is experienced now, and with the directions he provided. For doubters and skeptics that always resisted his teachings under the rationale that you can’t prove what happens after you die. While that may be true, that’s not what Jesus was teaching. He was teaching something you can experience while alive, which is why he was able to so easily build a base of thousands of supporters and fans before he died. He didn’t win them over with promises of a far off reward when they died. He was telling them that reward was in their back pocket the whole time, a switch that just needed to be turned on.

A true celebration of his birth and life should entail all of us collectively helping anyone we witness suffering, starving and in any need of desperate help. A true demonstration of selflessness is our ego’s worst nightmare. A casual walk in any major urban city will have plenty of opportunities to do this. Buy a homeless person a sandwich, give them money, etc. Turn Jesus’ birthday celebration into a national holiday in which we encourage forgiveness and make peace with anyone we have any unresolved and unsettled conflicts with. The amount of incredible stories that could come out from people earnestly burying the hatchet with others would make for numerous stories of humanity at its best.

This would be a true celebration of him, his life and teachings. The aforementioned acts early in this article are very deliberate attempts to subvert the teachings of Jesus, no different than the intention of executing him was to permanently end his ministry and teachings.
