First Things First – Ask the spirit of the universe in your consciousness to guide you; using the italicized text below:
Today, I affirm that we are all reflections and expressions of the greater universe—united, interconnected, and one. I call upon the cosmic and eternal quantum field, historically referred to as the Holy Spirit, to guide my every action, word, decision, and thought. I surrender the will of my ego and instead embrace the will of the greater universe, expressed through the Spirit that permeates all things and binds us together as one.
I ask the Spirit of the Universe to dissolve all illusions of separation between my brothers and sisters and myself. Help me to see through this veil of division and help me remember that we are all one human family—one with each other and one with the universe itself. May these illusions fall away, and may the truth of our unity become ever more clear.
I recognize that what Jesus called “heaven” is not some distant afterlife, but the state of inner bliss and divine connection that is available to us here and now. I ask our Source and the Spirit of the universe, to help me access the ecstasy and clarity of enlightenment that lives within us all. Heaven, as Jesus taught, is within us—the direct experience of our connection to the cosmos above via the Holy Spirit within us.
I declare to the universe that my greatest goal and highest priority is to return to this divine connection—to reestablish conscious union with our Source. I release my attachment to this body, this ego, this identity, and the personal story that brought me to this moment. I ask the Spirit of the universe to guide me into the future as I surrender all control, release me from the weight of the past and lead me to live my life comfortably in the present, where I can live with peace and clarity in the infinite.
I relinquish my ego’s constant urge to control, and instead place my trust in the divine control of the universe. I welcome the Spirit’s guidance and surrender to its wisdom, knowing that I am always supported, always loved, and never alone.
Now that you are asking for help from a divine connection to the universe, realize something important:
People Can Often Be a Mirror of Your Weaknesses
It’s equally important to recognize that the very things you either judge and hopefully forgive in others often exist within yourself. People around us frequently act as mirrors, reflecting our own vulnerabilities and weaknesses. This is the nature of reality because we are all in fact one. By acknowledging this, forgiveness becomes not just an act of grace toward others, but also a pathway to greater self-awareness and growth.
This is why it’s so valuable to transition from forgiving others to acknowledging your own weaknesses in the very same faults you’ve forgiven in others. By doing so, you open the door to seeking forgiveness for these shortcomings within yourself. True growth comes from honest introspection, recognizing your weaknesses with humility and a sincere desire to improve.
There’s no need to search the Bible for a list of egotistical flaws, as they are deeply personal and unique to each individual. You’ll uncover them through mindfulness, meditation, and, most importantly, by paying attention to what irritates or unsettles you in others. These reactions serve as a guide, pointing to the very traits or insecurities within yourself that require reflection and growth.
As I mentioned earlier, in my experience, a reliable indicator that your ego has been offended is the unmistakable “How dare you!” reaction that arises in your mind. This response often signals a wound to your pride and highlights areas worth exploring through introspection.
Using myself as an example, I began to forgive people when they interrupted me when I speak, while also realizing that I frequently do this myself. This is where the part of the lord’s prayer comes into play, where you ask for divine forgiveness and help avoiding the temptation to repeat it, while also forgiving others for that same trespasses against you. What you are forgiving in others is more often than not what you’ll be asking for divine forgiveness for. This increases your self awareness while also eliminating toxic habits.
Trespasses: Referenced in the Lord’s Prayer… What are they? They’re inconsiderate selfish things you’ve done to overstep your boundaries with others. Typically driven by your ego’s flaws and weaknesses, not just some pre-defined list of naughty things found in the bible. Everyone’s egotistical weaknesses are subjective and relative to each person. They might not even necessarily be found in the bible. They’re discovered via honest self-reflection and can be discovered by observing others and how you judge them. One person’s weakness may not be someone else’s, but with the help of the quantum field of the universe (the holy spirit) and honest mindfulness of one’s thoughts and ego you can easily identify them. In your thoughts, ask the spirit of the universe for help in discovering yours. For me, it was discovering that I had a nasty habit of interrupting people when they spoke, so I was able to grow from this self realization. Always examine how you judge others and use it as a prompt for honest self examination.
When reciting the iconic Lord’s Prayer taught by Jesus..
It’s far more impactful to specify whom you are forgiving and why, rather than reciting the Lord’s Prayer in a rote or generalized way. While the prayer was always intended as a guiding framework, its true power lies in applying it with intention and precision. Naming the people and circumstances in your prayer brings depth and meaning to the act, transforming it from a hollow ritual into a heartfelt practice of accountability and grace. Without addressing the specifics—both of your own actions and those you seek to forgive—the prayer becomes an empty gesture. It goes an even longer way if you go out of your way to forgive someone directly and to make peace with them. As Jesus stated, blessed be the peacemakers, and making peace with a person directly takes a lot of humility, putting aside one’s ego to accomplish this, but it goes much farther than just doing it internally.
In short, The Lord’s Prayer serves as a blueprint for crafting your own personal prayers. It’s important to adapt its language to suit your specific circumstances—particularly the part about forgiving “trespasses.” Before reciting the prayer, take time to reflect on how others may have wronged or triggered you and, just as crucially, how you might have been guilty of similar actions. In truth, everyone acts as a mirror to ourselves. Pay close attention to what unsettles you or wounds your ego—the “How dare they!” moments—because these often reveal the very flaws you might harbor within yourself. (your trespasses/guilts).
Other Tips/Suggestions:
- As a general rule, never take anything personally. I have personally found that the common thread or of most of my biggest weaknesses after self reflection is anger. So I asked for forgiveness for anger and help leading me away from anger and saving me from evil that my ego is the catalyst for my weaknesses. Find the common thread or denominator of your weaknesses and ask for help and forgiveness and healing from that weakness in your prayer as well. You’ll recognize them as they appear as they become very clear patterns of things that irk you.
- Make your own list of faults you want to ask forgiveness for and forgive others for. This serves as the foundation of the forgiveness portion of the lord’s prayers. Here’s a list of forgiveness opportunities in the digital age that we all face often that we all need to roll off our backs. Hurt feelings and feelings of disrespect should be shrugged off since they’re typically ego based
