The ultra-nationalistic, far-right rhetoric that demands others remain to their countries or origin is not only deeply toxic but also fundamentally rejects the spirit of unity and oneness that lies at the heart of Jesus’ teachings. To claim to be Christian while simultaneously insisting that people “go back to your country”—as far removed from you as possible—is a glaring contradiction. This stance is not only fueled by hatred and exclusion but is also profoundly hypocritical, standing in direct opposition to the very foundation of a nation built on diversity and cultural intermingling.

The insistence on cultural dominance is nothing more than a symptom of our toxic egos—a belief in one’s own superiority cloaked in the language of patriotism. What is truly astonishing, however, is the way those who oppose coexistence wear their faith so publicly, adorning their cars with Christian bumper stickers and proudly displaying religious symbolism in their social media profiles. Yet, when confronted with the inconsistency between their faith and their exclusionary beliefs, they retreat—blocking, silencing, or shutting the door—because there is no rational defense for hatred within the framework of modern Christianity.

This reflects a broader issue within modern Christianity: the tailoring of faith to fit personal biases rather than following the teachings at its core. For many, Christianity has ceased to be a commitment to the principles of love, compassion, and acceptance, and instead has become little more than a marker of tribal identity—where adherence to the actual tenets of Christ’s message is secondary, if not entirely irrelevant.

This further underscores the reality that modern Christianity has largely strayed from the core values and teachings of Jesus. Today, identifying as a Christian no longer necessarily signifies a commitment to the principles of unity, compassion, peace, and forgiveness that Christ preached. In an era where faith is often co-opted as a symbol of tribal allegiance rather than a genuine pursuit of spiritual truth, it is not inconceivable to witness someone offering praise to the Lord in one breath and performing a Nazi salute in the next.

What Christianity ultimately became and what Jesus originally taught are not the same thing. Anyone genuinely familiar with his teachings can say this with confidence. This is not a subjective opinion. When one makes an objective comparison between Jesus’ actual teachings and what is now taught in his name, the differences are often not merely minor or interpretive, they are, in many cases, diametrically opposed.

The modern Christian church is not only something Jesus never formally established, but it has also diverged radically from the essence of his teachings. His message—rooted in love, unity, and compassion—was hijacked by those who misrepresented his image, distorting it into a tool for control and division. Yet, to walk in the spirit of Jesus does not require adopting any of the countless Christian labels that now exist. The only true church is humanity itself, in which we are all members. We are bound together not just metaphorically but in a profoundly literal and spiritual sense. Recognizing and embracing this truth is the first step toward genuine spiritual awakening.

We are all reflections of the greater universe, of the divine source—of God. We are not separate from one another, no matter what fear-driven rhetoric seeks to convince you. The relentless insistence that we are distinct, superior, or divided is merely the voice of a toxic ego still grasping for control. Release that control. Call upon the Holy Spirit—the force that permeates the universe and binds all of us together—to guide you on the path of truth. Ask for alignment, for harmony between your thoughts and the will of God. Affirm in your mind that your thoughts and those of our Creator are one and the same. When you encounter others, remind yourself that we are all one. Offer them your blessings. Refrain from judgment. See their beauty, no matter what hateful propaganda you have been conditioned to believe.

Let this also serve as a call to action: to uphold the teachings of Jesus by caring for your fellow humans—your brothers and sisters with whom you are one. To promote policies and practices that uplift and support others, rather than tearing them down. Political agendas that seek to dismantle programs designed to help those in need are, without question, the most anti-Christian positions one could adopt. If you find yourself unsettled by hearing another language spoken or witnessing a culture different from your own, recognize that this discomfort is born of ego and fear, not love and righteousness. To follow Jesus means to cast aside such prejudices entirely. There is no selective discipleship when it comes to Christ’s teachings—you embrace them fully, or you do not follow them at all.

No matter how you slice it, telling people to go back to their country is always motivated from a desire for separation and division instead of unity. Especially when these demands are being made and triggered by completely innocuous actions like any language other than English being spoken. You simply cannot be a follower of Jesus if you want humanity to remain separated. In most cases these demands aren’t even motivated by a phony desire to “keep criminals out of our country”.  The people making these demands simply want a singular culture here with no diversity. An American culture where only English is being spoken which is again, ignorant of the fact that English is not the only language spoken in the most historically diverse country in the history of this planet. The sooner Americans and Christians earnestly accept Jesus’ teachings of unity, the sooner we’ll see these toxic demands to keep specific types of people out of this country.
