The importance of Jesus is that he knew how to awaken to our highest consciousness, he understood the mechanics of the universe, how everything works and how to navigate it, and shared it with all of us as a teacher. Things that happen to you don’t happen by accident; the universe is constantly thrusting you into situations to see whether you can put your ego aside to choose forgiveness and the peaceful route. This is something that everyone can learn to do without joining a religion. For skeptics that can’t fathom that you are deliberately being put into situations where your ability to put your ego aside and forgive couldn’t possibly be real, try to suspend your belief for a week and put it into practice for a week and enjoy the positive ripple effects that result as a consequence to always choosing the most peaceful route in any situation.

For the skeptics that reject the stories in the gospels because of the supernatural elements contained therein, put that aside. Evidence points to these elements like ‘the virgin birth’ and ‘the resurrection’ being added to the gospels much later to attract the most possible attention to Jesus’ important teachings and story in the surrounding regions. The gospels were written several decades after Jesus’ death, and they contain numerous additional elements that scholars have confirmed were added by the authors, either without verification or beyond their possible knowledge at the time.

So put aside any disbelief if those elements of the stories were dealbreakers for you, since it’s more than likely fabricated for the sake of narrative. The more important takeaway from the gospels are the lessons being taught, the lessons teaching you how to navigate and ride the waves of the ocean that is the universe. The universe is always promoting and pushing for peaceful outcomes of every situation and is testing your ability to navigate them successfully. The ability to pass these tests all depends on casting your ego aside. It’s remarkable that this isn’t taught in most Christian churches. I’ve been to many and most give general life advice but never home in on the primary lessons of forgiveness.

For those thinking “Who am I supposed to forgive everyday like Jesus is advising us to? Nobody is hurting me every day!”

It’s happening more often than you think. Any general sting at your ego is what should prompt you for forgiveness.

  • A rude or passive aggressive remark
  • Someone cutting you off on the highway
  • Someone not saying hi to you
  • Someone not saying Thank You
  • Someone not holding the door for you
  • Someone leaving your texts on read/someone ghosting you
  • Someone not following you back on social media
  • Someone interrupting you or speaking over you when you’re speaking
  • People trying to bait you into heated debates/arguments.

These (and similar scenarios) are all jabs at your ego. Anything that prompts your ego to think “How dare you??” Is your prompt to forgive. These tests happen daily. For those slights against your ego from the past you’re still holding onto, forgive them too and let them go. Genuinely let them go. The universe is testing you because it’s trying to promote and normalize peace across the entire species.

Passing these tests enables you to achieve what is essentially called Zen, Happiness, Nirvana, etc. in other spiritual practices. For those that can’t sit down and meditate for whatever reason, this is a simple alternative.

For those secularists that don’t like the idea of organized religion, Jesus never tried to start a religion, nor did he ask his followers to worship him. He never said, “Accept me as your personal savior!” His goal was only to show us how to navigate the waters is that is the universe, the universal secret/key to happiness/enlightenment and the answer to the riddle of “What is the meaning of everything?” If you’re the type of person that never wants to crack open a Bible, that’s understandable because Jesus’ teachings can be quickly summarized in a few paragraphs and in a way that you could easily understand and applied even as a person turned off by religions.

Is an atheist really reject practices like love thy neighbor and forgive others? These are universal truths/guidelines that everyone can get behind.

If you’re sitting there thinking “There’s no way there’s a God, prove it!” It can be easily proven by looking up. The universe itself and the invisible energy force permeating throughout the universe is what is what people have been labeling God for thousands of years. As a secular or atheist person, are going to reject and deny the existence of the universe?

If you’re put off by people who are self-proclaimed followers of Jesus because they’re spewing unfiltered hatred, racism, discrimination, etc. These people are not actual followers of the guidelines laid out by Jesus and they have failed as ambassadors for Jesus’ message. They have sabotaged the proliferation of the key to the secret that is happiness and total oneness with the universe. Putting a Jesus bumper sticker on your car, or a cross in your twitter Bio does not actually make you a follower of Jesus. Many of these people simply want a tribe to belong to and an opportunity to say “we’re better than other people” which again is symptomatic of an ego run amok. These people never understood Jesus’ message.

Unlocking total unity and oneness with the universe can be achieved by passing all those tests to put your ego aside and letting things go. Take some joy at each time an opportunity and test put in front of you to forgive someone appears since it gets you to climb another step to the total euphoria and ecstasy of a spiritual awakening and experiencing total oneness with the universe.

It’s a ladder you’re climbing and each step requires silencing your ego to choose peace. Think of it as a game you need to win, a hurdling course where hurdles and other obstacles are constantly being thrown at you to jump over. That’s all it is.

In short, our egos are the source of all pain and misery and constantly chipping away at it gets us to total ecstasy and euphoria of what has seemed like unattainable happiness. What terms like Nirvana and Heaven have essentially been describing. Let go of any attachment to that ego by passing all these tests that ask you to brush your ego aside.

There’s a quote from Jesus in the Bible where he essentially says forgiveness is the key to unlocking the door to happiness is inside you and if you don’t unlock that door, you’re crazy. If you would rather have an argument with someone at waffle house or let someone try to bait you into an argument, you’re choosing conflict instead of the pure bliss that comes from enlightenment.

If you still don’t want to crack open a Bible, that’s fine, don’t bother as long as you fully understand the crux of the message being communicated by Jesus. Christians far too often get caught up in asking “citation please!!” “Which verse says that???” and it’s a waste of time. Just understand and follow the guidelines laid out by Jesus, and don’t join any religion if you don’t want to. It’s not necessary. Jesus’ never tried to establish a religion. Just understand the mechanics of the universe and learn how to navigate it.

Thomas Jefferson had released an edited version of the gospels that only contained the core tenets of Jesus teachings because those were the most important takeaways. That version of the gospels was called “The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth,” and regardless of your religion or lack thereof, those lessons could be incorporated and applied in your life to unlock total oneness with the universe and enable the “happiness switch” you had inside you that you didn’t even know you had. Test it yourself to put yourself back in total alignment and harmony with the universe.

The ultimate goal and natural order of the universe remains harmony and solidarity. This by no means implies that we should have not have communal gatherings of unity with others, but if you’ve been put off by the idea of churches and religions since they strike you as divisive in nature, you can still explore and practice Jesus teachings of unity and embracing practices and habits that reinforce our unity as a species and our unity with our father the universe. The goal is always establishing a reunification and reawakening to our greater connection with all, these teachings and habits can be put into practice daily and you can start going to communal gatherings of worship when you feel comfortable.
